Historical Injustice, Structural Disrepair, and Relationship Repair
His current project is about how to conceptualise the normative relationship between the unjust past and present. In it, he first explores how contemporary accounts of historical injustice and reparative justice leave historical victims behind and do not adequately theorise failures to repair injustice. In response, he develops a backward-looking account of reparative justice as relationship repair. His focus is on cases of (global) racial and colonial injustice and he draws on work not just from analytic philosophy but also from critical philosophy of race and Africana philosophy. In this way, he follows a method that could be called ‘syncretic afro-analytical critical theory’.
