In 1970s Germany, the two sisters Juliane and Marianne fight for social change. While Juliane campaigns for women’s rights as a journalist, her sister Marianne chooses to fight as an underground terrorist. When Marianne is finally arrested, the sisters’ conflict between ideological differences, individual passions and moral ambivalences breaks out into the open.
