After a German U-boat sinks a US passenger ship during World War II, some American survivors find themselves on a lifeboat. They manage to pull another castaway on board, who turns out to be a crew member of the German submarine. Faced with storms, injuries and food shortages, the group must decide whether they can trust the enemy sailor.
