Paris, 1944: German General Dietrich von Choltitz is on the verge of giving the order to destroy Paris before the Allies can liberate the city. Swedish diplomat Raoul Nordling manages to get into the general’s hotel room to dissuade him from his decision. In a race against time, the two become embroiled in a debate about honor, obedience to orders, guilt and morality.
