Legal history – traditions and perspectives
Anniversaries urge us to take stock. In 2014, Frankfurt’s Goethe University is celebrating its 100th birthday. There was an invitation to take stock, to look ahead to the experiences and expectations of law and its sub-disciplines. This article on the perspectives of the subject of “legal history” is also set in this context. It will therefore only briefly deal with 100 years (I.), little with the period after 1945 (II.), far more with the framework conditions for legal history research in the “Berlin Republic” (III.) – and with the future prospects of the subject (IV.).
