Reference work on a contemporary classic. Discussion on the publication of the “Rawls Handbook” on July 6

John Rawls is one of the most important political philosophers of the 20th century. His “Theory of Justice” on the fair distribution of opportunities and goods triggered a renaissance of normative political theories and his work “Political Liberalism” made an important contribution to the conditions of coexistence in a pluralistic society.
The “Rawls Handbook. Life – Work – Impact”, edited by the Frankfurt religious studies scholars Dr. Michael Roseneck and Prof. Dr. Thomas M. Schmidt, among others, deals with the philosopher’s complete works based on the latest international research.
To mark the publication of the handbook by J.B. Metzler Verlag, the panel discussion “Book Launch: Rawls-Handbuch. Life – Work – Impact” with a keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Rainer Forst (Goethe University Frankfurt am Main and Co-Director of the Research Center “Normative Orders”) and a subsequent discussion with Prof. Dr. Rainer Forst, Prof. Dr. Christine Bratu (Georg August University Göttingen) and Prof. Dr. Michael Reder (Munich School of Philosophy) moderated by Rebecca C. Schmidt (Research Center “Normative Orders”) will take place on July 6, 2023, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the House of Finance on the Westend campus of Goethe University. It is organized by the Department 07 Catholic Theology of Goethe University Frankfurt, the Research Center “Normative Orders”, the GRADE Center RuTh and the Institute for Philosophical Research on Religion.
