What role do art and culture play in society, especially in exceptional situations? This is one of the key questions of the current, fourth cycle of the “DenkArt” event series. The final event in the series will take place on January 30 at 7.30 pm with Prof. Juliane Rebentisch, who will give a lecture entitled “No society without art?”.
Juliane Rebentisch is Professor of Philosophy and Aesthetics at the Offenbach University of Art and Design. In her lecture, the philosopher will look at the role of art as a medium for self-reflection in society and address the question of the autonomy of art and culture in the context of social life. The philosopher will also address the role of the public and the aesthetic dimensions of art in her lecture.
As is usual for the participatory series, the lecture will be followed by discussions in small groups. The questions and theses collected there will then be discussed with Prof. Rebentisch. The evening will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Joachim Valentin, Director of the Catholic Academy Rabanus Maurus, Haus am Dom.
