“On the eve of the constitutional anniversary”. Constitutional law expert Gabriele Britz speaks on the 75th anniversary of the Basic Law

On May 23, 2024, the Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany celebrates its 75th birthday – and Goethe University is celebrating with it. On the eve of this important anniversary, the research center “Normative Orders”, the Department of Law at Goethe University and the Frankfurt Law Society invite you to a lecture by Prof. Gabriele Britz, former judge of the Federal Constitutional Court, who has held the professorship for public law at Goethe University since this semester, on Wednesday, 22 May at 6:30 pm in the ballroom in the Casino (Westend Campus).

Ms. Britz talks about the Basic Law as a “constitution of freedom and balancing order”. The lecture explores the question of how the liberal constitution can also exist in a divided society and how its prerequisites can be defended with the rights of freedom themselves. University President Prof. Enrico Schleiff, Prof. Rainer Forst, Director of the “Normative Orders” Research Center and Prof. Matthias Jahn, Chairman of the Board of the Frankfurt Law Society, will give welcoming addresses.
