Ute Tellmann

  • Biografische Angaben

    Seit April 2019 ist Ute Tellmann Professorin für Allgemeine Soziologie/Soziologische Theorie an der TU Darmstadt. Zuvor war sie Professorin für Politische Soziologie an der Universität Erfurt bzw. am Max-Weber-Kolleg. Sie studierte Soziologie und politische Theorie in Berlin, Bielefeld, Toronto (Kanada) sowie an der Cornell University (USA). Nach Abschluss ihrer Promotion an der Cornell University lehrte sie im Arbeitsbereich Allgemeine Soziologie an der Universität Basel und der Universität Hamburg.

    Ihre Forschungsinteressen gelten kultursoziologischen und historischen Perspektiven, die die enge Verbindung der soziologischen Disziplin mit der Geschichte des politischen Denkens sowie mit Geographie, Anthropologie und Philosophie hervorheben. Charakteristisch für ihre Theoriebildung ist eine enge Verzahnung mit Wissensgeschichte und exemplarischen Fallanalysen.
