Institutional peacekeeping: Trade and peace – How much disentanglement can peace tolerate?
Abstract:
Economic interdependence is at the center of political debates when it comes to drawing lessons from the Russian war of aggression for future peace strategies. While interdependence has long been seen as a precursor to democracy and peace, there are now signs of a turnaround in which it is seen as an obstacle to effective conflict prevention or even as a driver of conflict. Disentanglement seems to be the order of the day, but should be used with extreme caution, as it is more likely to promote conflict than prevent it.
