Buchpräsentation von Prof. Dr. Sighard Neckel (Universität Hamburg) und Kommentar von Prof. Dr. Jan Pieter Krahnen (Forschungszentrum SAFE an der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt) am 14. November 2018 im Exzellenzcluster „Die Herausbildung normativer Ordnungen“ der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt.
Auf den internationalen Finanzmärkten hat sich eine neue globale Klasse gebildet. Dieses Buch zeigt am Beispiel der Finanzzentren Frankfurt am Main und Sydney, wie in der Finanzklasse gemeinsame Formen ökonomischen, kulturellen und sozialen Kapitals entstehen. Typisch für den Habitus dieser Finanzklasse ist neben den üblichen Statussymbolen ein demonstrativer Gestus von kultureller Offenheit, Diversität, Weltläufigkeit und Toleranz, in dem sich eine kosmopolitische Selbstdarstellung mit ökonomischen Interessen verbindet. Ein neuer Modus sozialer Grenzziehung wird sichtbar, der paradox erscheint: Exklusivität durch Einschluss, Abschottung durch Öffnung.
