The mechanical in the living itself: On the latent comedy of the human ethological concept of behavior

About the book:

‘Behavior’ is an important category in the life sciences. It is central to all negotiations of the human-animal relationship and is present in the sciences as well as in the popular media. In order to understand the historical paths and the political dimension of behavioral research, it is not possible to start from biology alone: An interdisciplinary historicization of the concept is necessary, which is presented for the first time in this volume.
