The articles in this volume provide a scientifically sound analysis of the history of the Austrian PORR AG under the Hitler regime between 1938 and 1945, ranging from the forced aryanization immediately after the Anschluss to the construction activities on various major projects in Austria and abroad. An important subject of research is the treatment of the company’s (forced) employees. The development of PORR during the Nazi era and in the first post-war years can, despite all the differences, be seen as typical of one of the major Austrian construction companies.
