Digitization in the law of the European Union

About the anthology

The European Union has had a “digital strategy” since 2020. With this strategy, the EU institutions are attempting to legally define the behavior of the players in cyberspace, which is often perceived as random. The projects are extensive and range from the regulation of digital platforms and gatekeepers to the creation of a common cybersecurity space and the digitalization of the European healthcare system.

At the Walter Hallstein Symposium 2022, the topic “Digitalization in the European Union” attempted to define the legal framework for the digitalization of European society. This volume brings together contributions from this colloquium, which trace the developments up to the end of 2022.
