Arms dynamics: arms control and disinformation
Abstract:
In view of the Russian war in Ukraine and growing tensions with China, the prospects for arms control appear bleak. But not all arms control efforts are doomed to failure. Even if further disarmament is unlikely at present, everything should be done to maintain strategic stability, reduce the risk of escalation, prevent an arms race and curb proliferation. This requires a reorientation of arms control policy and its integration into security and defense policy. A new danger must be countered: disinformation, as it can undermine arms control and permanently prevent cooperation.
