Lecture & film series “An eye for the world. The Cinema of Satyajit Ray” from October 26, 2023

Satyajit Ray (1921-1992) was the first director from India to achieve global recognition. Equally gifted as a graphic artist, musician, writer and director, Ray created a body of work that transcends all boundaries: Those of genres and arts as well as those of cultures. In the upcoming Lecture & Film series “An eye for the world. The Cinema of Satyajit Ray”, connoisseurs of this work will explore the question of what continues to make Ray groundbreaking in the post-globalization era. On October 26, 2023, the series will be opened at 8 pm in the cinema of the DFF – Deutsches Filminsitut und Filmmuseum by Prof. Dr. Vinzenz Hediger (Goethe University, ConTrust, Normative Orders) and the lecture “Ray’s World Cinema: On the Genealogy of PATHER PANCHALI” followed by a screening of Pather Panchali (Song of the Road), India 1955, 120 min.

The series “An Eye for the World – The Films of Satyajit Ray” is organized by the Institute for Theatre, Film and Media Studies at Goethe University Frankfurt and the German Film Institute & Film Museum in cooperation with the research initiative “ConTrust – Trust in Conflict” at Research Centre Normative Orders of Goethe University.

Das Prinzip Donald Trump und die Verrohung der Welt

Panel Discussion, Lecture
