Between film, industry and business: New anthology on the relationship between film and business published

The volume “Films That Work Harder. The Circulation of Industrial Film”, edited by Frankfurt film and media scholars and ConTrust members Prof. Dr. Vinzenz Hediger and Dr. Florian Hoof as well as Prof. Dr. Yvonne Zimmermann and Scott Anthony, was recently published by Amsterdam University Press.
The anthology brings together a total of thirty contributions in seven sections, ranging from value chains, nation-state iconographies and festivals to post-colonial approaches and the relationship between amateur and professional film.

Described by the editors themselves as a “sequel”, this anthology follows on seamlessly from the volume “Films That Work”, which was published in 2009 and focused specifically on the relationship between film and companies. With the new volume, the focus is now to be broadened – under the unchanged hypothesis that economic activities are closely linked to media and their infrastructures.

The book has been published both as a hardcover and as an open access publication for download.
