  • Biografische Angaben

    Born in Rüsselsheim in 1970. After secondary school, studied mathematics, chemistry and Egyptology at the University of Mainz. Graduated in 1996 (first state examination), then studied Egyptology and Ancient Near Eastern Studies at the Free University of Berlin. Doctorate in the history of mathematics in 2000. Research stays in Cambridge, Mass. (Dibner Institute for the History of Science and Technology, MIT, 2000-2002) and Cambridge, England (Trinity Hall College and Department of History and Philosophy of Science, 2002-2006). Appointment at the University of Mainz (Junior Professorship History of Mathematics) in 2006. Since January 2009 Professor of History of Science of the Pre-Modern World at the Department of History. Member of the Cluster of Excellence "Formation of Normative Orders" at the University of Frankfurt.
