Autoritäre und populistische Parteien und Bewegungen haben in letzten beiden Jahrzehnten in vielen Ländern an Einfluss gewonnen. Sowohl neugegründete Zusammenschlüsse als auch sich radikalisierende Gruppen tragen dazu bei. Auch in Deutschland lässt sich eine Zunahme solcher Gruppen und Bestrebungen beobachten, wie auch eine zunehmende Vernetzung von Gruppierungen aus den sogenannten Reichsbürger- und Querdenkermilieus mit etablierten rechten Gruppen wie auch dem parlamentarischen Rechtspopulismus. Die Verbreitung dieses Gedankengutes und die Akzeptanz radikaler bis extrem rechter Positionen reicht dabei zunehmend in die Mitte der Gesellschaft und bis in staatstragende Institutionen. Mit gravierenden Folgen für die Demokratie.
