The historical place of historical research
About the book
Dealing with one’s own historicity is a challenge that historical scholarship has to face. Medieval studies have also dealt with this in recent years. Against this background, this anthology attempts to explore the possibilities and limits of medieval academic history using the example of research on “feudalism” and “feudalism” as concepts of normative order in the 20th century. To this end, it examines the constitutive conditions of knowledge from different perspectives.
