Climate Activism of the Last Generation – On the Legality and Legitimacy of a Political Practice
Panel discussion
The last generation is the subject of controversial social debate. On the one hand, the forms of protest and the group itself are exposed to criminal prosecution; on the other hand, civil disobedience as a political practice is ascribed a significant role in the socio-ecological transformation of society. In any case, the actions of the Last Generation raise very fundamental questions about the effectiveness and legitimacy of political protest, which cannot be resolved solely in and with the dogmatics of criminal law.
