It is considered one of the most influential works of political philosophy of the 20th century and can still be seen as a constructive contribution to current discussions on distributive justice. With his second major work, Political Liberalism, he opened up the debate on how we can live together in a reasonable way under the conditions of a pluralistic society. Rawls’ work is of central importance for contemporary political philosophy and for related disciplines such as social sciences, law and theology. This handbook is the first German-language reference work to present Rawls’ complete work in its development, to explain central concepts and to present the most important references and discussions, based on the current state of international research.

Frühbauer, Johannes J. / Reder, Michael / Roseneck, Michael / Schmidt, Thomas M.
