Since 2013, the University of Cologne has awarded the prize to outstanding young researchers from the humanities and human sciences as part of its &#8220;Future Prizes&#8221; funding concept. The prize commemorates the renowned Austrian-Jewish Romance philologist and literary theorist Leo Spitzer, who held a professorship for Romance linguistics at the University of Cologne until his dismissal in 1933 and was instrumental in founding the Portuguese-Brazilian Institute.    <br\/>Prof. Dr. Sofie M\u00f8ller&#8217;s research focuses on 18th and 19th century philosophy, in particular Immanuel Kant, German Idealism, ethics and the philosophy of law. Before receiving a junior professorship in philosophy with a focus on Kant and German Idealism at the University of Cologne in 2023, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Research Centre Normative Orders.
